When young Patty Gayle’s grandmother tells her that a special key she has will unlock amazing secrets, Patty never imagines what incredible adventures are in store for her. Unfortunately, her grandmother then has a stroke and eventually succumbs to death before she can reveal those secrets to Patty and she is left to find and unlock those secrets on her own. The mystery that unravels in the pages following is truly an exciting turn of events full of secrets and danger that will keep the reader coming back for more as Patty discovers the existence of the land of Kingsley and the amazing destiny that she holds in that world.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Patty Gayle and the Legend of Kingsley” by Cynthia Willow. Cynthia’s description of both the characters and the world around them is vivid and will leave lasting pictures in the reader’s mind. Patty is a believable character who wrestles with her situation and learns a great deal about what it means to have faith. I found this to be a fun read that all ages would enjoy, but would be particularly geared toward tweens and teens. There is a Christian message throughout the book that deals with the issue of walking by faith, not by sight, that enhances the book and the characters in it. Overall, many readers will be blessed reading through this book.
