VERSE:

Jeremiah 43:2–Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying!” The Lord our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to settle there.'”

TRUTH:

What is arrogance? Arrogance is believing that you are better than someone else. These men believed they were better than God and knew more than God. They asked Jeremiah to tell them God’s Word, but then once they had heard it, they didn’t like it so they told Jeremiah he was wrong and accused him of lying. How do we respond when God tells us His Word and it wasn’t what we were expecting? Do we accept His Word? Do we reject it? Are we constantly trying to find other ways to get around God’s Word? Are we arrogant?

RESPONSE:

Father, I desire Your Word and Your direction in my life every day. I know that You are over all things and desire to share You Word with me. I will accept it as truth no matter what it is. I will accept that You know what is best for me no matter what You share with me. You know more and are better than me, so I will not respond to You with arrogance, but with submission.
