God’s truth remains. Elijah sent a message to the king with God’s word. Now that the king has requested to see Elijah in person, the word from God still has not changed. Read 2 Kings 1:16-18.

Then he said to him, “Thus says the Lord , ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron-is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word?-therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.'” So Ahaziah died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken. And because he had no son, Jehoram became king in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Ahaziah had sinned against God, and God will judge him. Elijah had shared this with him before, but he didn’t believe it. So he had Elijah brought to his presence where Elijah told him the same thing again. And, what God had shared through Elijah would happen, is exactly what happened. Ahaziah died just like God said he would. And all the things that he had done were recorded in a book so that others could hopefully learned from the mistakes that he made.

Do we expect God to change his mind when it comes to his truth? God’s truth is his truth and nothing is going to change that excepta repentant heart. Will we try to fight against God’s truth like Ahaziah, or will we bend to God’s will in our lives and repent and seek Him?
