Christian Devotional – August 30, 2012

VERSE:
Galatians 3:2–This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law or by hearing with faith?

TRUTH:
Paul knew the Galatians were struggling with the question of whether their salvation came because of the works they did or their belief and faith in Christ. Paul tackled this question head-on and asked them. Did you receive the Spirit because of what you do or your faith? We receive salvation based on our faith in Jesus Christ, whereas our works are all like filthy rags to a Holy God. Are we still trying to earn God’s forgiveness or freely accepting His gift through faith?

RESPONSE:
Lord, I try to work and earn so many things in our life that it is easy to think that way about our relationship with You. Forgive me and help me to see Your love is based simply on who You are, not what I do.
