VERSE:
Leviticus 11:45–For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.

TRUTH:
As God gave out instructions on what to eat, He also gave them the reason and the purpose for these instructions. All the things that are listed throughout this book are there to demonstrate the holiness of God and what we would have to follow to be holy ourselves. No one can follow this plan perfectly. God gave all these laws to show us our need for a Savior. We cannot possibly measure up on our own. We need the Savior who came to earth this day so many years ago. He came to make us holy as He is holy.

RESPONSE:
Father, I want to be holy as You are, but I fail on my own. I desperately need You and Your mercy to save me, for on my own I always fall short. You are the only one who can make me holy as You are.

EXTRA:
Merry Christmas to all of you today! Whether this is a joyous day of laughter and fun or a bitter reminder of loved ones lost, or even if it’s somewhere in between, remember that this day is a celebration of the day that hope was fulfilled and mercy was displayed. Because of Jesus Christ, we are not condemned to wallow in our short-falls and doomed to pay the consequences for them. Because of Jesus Christ, we have been give hope and mercy to find forgiveness of the wrongs we have done. Embrace Him, look to Him, and give Him your whole life today. He is Immanuel, God with us. He came with purpose to make that phrase a reality through His death, burial, and resurrection, so that we could come to God. Have you committed your life to Him?
