Draw near through humility. God wants us to be in a relationship with him. He wants us to draw near to him because he will then draw near to us. Read James 4:8-10.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

James starts out telling us to draw near to God because God will then draw near to us. He then goes through a list of ways in which we need to prepare ourselves to draw near to God. We cannot draw near to God unless we have done these things. Cleansing our hands, purifying our hearts, being mournful. All of these things lead us to be able to find humility and not be prideful about our past sins or some position that we think we hold in life. God is over all and we must remember that.

If we choose to seek God, and we want to draw near to him, we must understand just how holy he is and how unworthy we are. Yeah, God still wants that relationship and promises to draw near to us. How amazing! Are we willing to do what it takes to draw near to God?
