Read Genesis chapter 17

VERSE:

Genesis 17:13–Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.

TRUTH:

As we begin a new year, we read about God establishing a covenant with Abraham and Abraham responding by following through on the recommendations and requirements of that command. This was a new start for Abraham. While he had been following God before, this was a time when he truly started to understand what would be required of him to follow God. Abraham also received some specific time frames for the promises that God had made to him. As we are preparing and starting the New Year, what promises has God made to us and what do we need to promise back to God? How will we show our commitment and dedication to His promises in the New Year?

RESPONSE:

Father, I want this year to be a time for me to demonstrate my full commitment to You. Thank You for Your promises to me and for how You work and move in my life. I know that You are able to do everything that You have promised and I will stand firm and seek You in every area of my life, just as You have required of me.
