What good are plans?  As we continue to look at purpose, read Jeremiah chapter 29.

God is giving the people of Israel some idea of what is going to happen to them in the future. They have been taken away into captivity and they dont see how any of this could possibly be God’s will for them. Jeremiah receives a word from God that is to help them and encourage them. We are going to focus on verses 10 – 14. God tells Jeremiah that He has plans for the people. God wants the people to know that there is a plan in everything that is going on. God has specifically thought of them and He has a plan. More than that, it is a good plan that is to give them hope and a future. They are going to get to the place where they are calling on God. They will seek after God. They will pray to Him and seek after Him with all their heart.

You see, God does have a plan and a purpose for us, but He will not reveal it until there are certain things in place.

  1. It had to be the right time. God’s timing is perfect and He will rest and wait on His perfect time before He reveals it to us.
  2. We have to be seeking Him. He is not going to reveal His plan and purpose until we are looking to Him and seeking after Him with our entire heart.
  3. If we will seek Him, we will find Him. God wants to be found. He’s not playing hide and seek. He is ready and willing to be found if we are actively seeking Him.

Now of those things listed, we cannot control God’s timing. We cannot always know exactly when God is going to bring things about. The thing that we can control out of this is whether or not we are seeking God. We have to start there. To know and understand the plans that God has for us, we must begin by seeking after Him.knowing that if we seek Him, we will find Him.

So the question for today, are we seeking God? Are we looking for Him and desiring Him above everything else that we have in life? Will we risk everything else we have for the chance to know Him better? Then when God’s timing is perfect, He will be able to move forward with His plan for us, exactly as He desires to.
