What is mercy?  Jesus addresses that question in Luke 10:25-42.

Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands? ” And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”
Luke 10:36‭-‬37 NASB

A man was injured and even though he didn’t deserve to have help from anyone, a man helped him. And not just any man, but a man who is pretty much a sworn enemy off the Jews. That man sacrificed his own things in order to provide for the injured man. He took from his own resources and provided for that man. Mercy refers to doing something that no one else deserves. There is no rational logical explanation for mercy and it makes no sense to think about our do.

As we interact with people today do we see them as an opportunity for us to show mercy? We have an amazing chance to treat people better than they deserve today, and as a result, show them Jesus.
