Mark 11:17–And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.'”
As Jesus came up into the temple, He saw the business side of things. He saw that people had come into the temple with the motivation of making money and seeking to take advantage of those who had simply come to worship. He drove them all out. When we go into the churches today, are they a house of prayer? Do we sense and see all that God desires for prayerful worship? Anything else is the result of changing God’s house into a den of robbers. Let’s clean out the church and bring it back to the place of prayerful petition to God.
Father, I pray that You will clean out Your church again. We need to be a prayerful people who are focused on all that You have for us, not on all that we can get for ourselves. I will come to You and will focus on You for all that You are and all that You can do. Please make me a house of prayer today.
