Isaiah 23:9–The Lord of hosts has planned it, to defile the pride of all beauty, to despise the honored of the earth.
Isaiah was again prophesying destruction and judgment for a group of people. In Tyre, the people had become prideful and felt they should be honored above everything else, including God. Because of their pride and arrogance, the Lord was going to bring about their destruction. What are we taking pride in? Do we act like we deserve more of the glory that God Himself? The Lord alone deserves honor and glory and He will not share it with anyone else.
Father, I seek to direct all glory and honor to You. You alone are worthy and I will take pride only in You and Your work in my life. I desire all things to be turned to You and praise You.
