Double Portion – #14

Faith and trust. The woman didn’t even bother telling her husband that their son had died. She just headed out to the Man of God. Read 2 Kings 4:18-23.

When the child was grown, the day came that he went out to his father to the reapers. He said to his father, “My head, my head.” And he said to his servant, “Carry him to his mother.” When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her lap until noon, and then died. She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door behind him and went out. Then she called to her husband and said, “Please send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and return.” He said, “Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor sabbath.” And she said, ” It will be well.”

Do you know where your stability is? What is your rock when everything else around you is going sideways? For this woman, she knew that was found in the man of God. She was confident in him and when her world started to slip, she didn’t complain to anyone else, she just headed out to see the man of God.

Do we trust God with that kind of fervent faith? Are we so focused on Him that we only want to share with him? God is the one who is the rock in the midst of the craziness and the storms that life brings. Do we seek him out in the midst? He is waiting for us and seeking us out.
