VERSE:
Isaiah 31:1–Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!

TRUTH:
The people were looking to political alliances to give them a sense of strength and security. They thought their security and hope came from their alliances with others and the strength and number of their armies. The Lord does not work that way. He alone is greater than any army or force that we could assemble. What do we trust in? What do we hope in?

RESPONSE:
Lord, today as I examine my circumstances and I look around me, I will not trust in what I see, but in the One I can’t see. I will choose today to seek the Lord and trust in Him alone for the strength to make it through the day.
