King Ahab trusts Obadiah. As we saw yesterday, Obadiah is a follower of God, yet he is in the service of evil King Ahab. Obadiah is over everything in the household, a very powerful and prestigious position. And now Ahab has a job for him to do. Read 1 Kings 18:5-6.

Then Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys; perhaps we will find grass and keep the horses and mules alive, and not have to kill some of the cattle.” So they divided the land between them to survey it; Ahab went one way by himself and Obadiah went another way by himself.

There has been no rain for 3 years. Everything is drying up. All the flocks and fields are in need of water so Ahab decides to go on a search for any and all springs of water that may still remain. He’s going to go one way and he sending Obadiah to go the other way. Ahab obviously trusts Obadiah greatly to send him on such an important mission.

Whether we work with believers or non believers or whether we are interacting with non believers or believers, we should be people of integrity who are known for doing what is right. Ahab trusted Obadiah and knew him to be someone of integrity. How are we known to the others we are around?
