Don’t underestimate God. God had promised to take care of Elijah during this drought and famine time, but he didn’t say how he was going to do it. Still, Elijah went where he said to go and amazingly something happened that he never would have expected. Read 1 Kings 17:6-7.

The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

God can use anything he wants to in order to accomplish his purpose. In this case, God used the ravens to nourish Elijah. They came in the morning and they came in the evening and each time they brought Elijah bread and meat. I wonder what Elijah thought the first time he saw that happen.

Do we underestimate what God can do and what he can use to accomplish his purpose? There is nothing outside of God’s ability to use. As we continue to read through the life of Elijah, never lose sight of how truly big and awesome God is and what he can do through anyone who is willing to be obedient to Him.
