Hebrews 8:12–For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
As the author reminds us of God’s very words, we see His promise toward us. As we are seeking after Him and making a choice to place Him first in our lives in every way, God also make a choice. God chooses to forgive us and He chooses to not remember our sins. For the person who has committed her life to Christ, this is one of the greatest, most amazing things. The God who created the entire universe make a choice to forgive us and to not remember the ways we have wronged Him in the past. He doesn’t have to and we certainly don’t deserve it, yet He chooses to do so anyway. If He can choose this for us as a result of our relationship with Jesus Christ, how much more are we able to choose to forgive others and not remember their wrongs against us because of what Christ did for us. Have we experienced God’s forgiveness? Are we sharing that forgiveness with others?
Father, Your love is amazing. You are so holy and pure and yet because of the sacrifice of Your Son, when we accept that, You choose to forgive us. I can never deserve all that You do for me, but I am so grateful and thankful. I will honor You by choosing to forgive others in the same way that You have chosen to forgive me.
