Alone. First Naomi left the land she knew. Then her husband died. Then 10 years later both her sons die. She felt very much alone. Read Ruth 1:3-5.

Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was bereft of her two children and her husband.

We have all felt alone at some point in our lives. Maybe it was while we were literally, physically by ourselves. Maybe we were surrounded by people but didn’t feel understood or accepted. There are mamy ways to feel alone. Regardless of the way in which you felt alone, it still hurts all the same.

God sees us when we are alone. He knows what it felt like to be alone. He still loves us and cares for us and the truth is that He is still with us. If we physically alone, He is there with is. If we feel that no one understands us, He does. No matter what we are going through, He knows it and He understands us better than we give Him credit for.

Knowing that He is there with us may not change our surroundings, but it can change our perspective. He wants us to know Him and to be like Him and going through the hard things gives us what we need to be more like Him. It’s not easy, but He is worth everything. While we are with Him, we are never truly alone. He just may need to strip away anything that doesn’t make us more like Him, so that we learn to rely on Him alone.
