Read Joshua chapter 1

VERSE:

Joshua 1:9–“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

TRUTH:

Joshua was facing a monumental task. Moses, the amazing leader of the Israelites had just died and he had the unenviable task of filling his shoes and leading the people of Israel. They weren’t going to be just sticking around where they were, Joshua was leading them on a military crusade to go in and conquer the land that God had promised them. I’m sure Joshua spent many sleepless nights wondering how in the world he was going to be able to do all that God was telling him, so God gave him this word to hold on to. We must also remember that when God calls us to a task, He has prepared the way ahead of time and we are relying on His strength to do all that he calls us to. Will we rely on Him today?

RESPONSE:

Father, I am often afraid and unsure of myself, but I know the calling You have given me. Help me to see all that You are doing to pave the way for me to walk down. I will be strong in You and courageous because of You. I will not be afraid because I trust in You.
