What is defined as holy? Paul answers that very clearly in 1 Timothy 4:2-5.

by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

Yesterday we discussed being distracted. Today, we see all the different things that can distract us and then Paul goes on to clarify the things that we should be focusing on. God makes things holy and our focus should be on the things that are holy. Only through God can something become sanctified, set apart for use by God. It’s important to remember that we do not make things holy, only God. Only things that lineup with his word can be considered holy. When we get distracted, we will often be distracted by things that are not of God. God creates good things and our responsibility is to focus on God and the things that He has made holy.
