Ecclesiastes 2:17–So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Solomon was busy trying to find pleasure and happiness through his own works. He tried and tried to find a way to “work” to gain and achieve satisfaction in life. Nothing he tried gave him lasting joy or satisfaction. So many people are trying to work and achieve that sense of accomplishment and purpose, yet, until we come to the place where we realize that only God gives true and lasting satisfaction, we will feel like we are chasing the wind every time.
Father, my purpose and satisfaction in life is only found in You. If I try to work it up, I will miss it. Instead of seeking my own personal gain, I will seek You. Only in You will I find true meaning for my life.
