Blessed is the Word, ב

How much do we love the word of God? As we continue in the next 8 verses through Psalm 119, we see just how much we should love and treasure God’s word. Read Psalm 119:9-16.

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord ; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

There are many statements in these 8 verses that are just truly amazing and convicting, but one really stand out to me. Do we love God’s word and rejoice in God’s word as much as we rejoice in riches? In today’s world and society where money possessions and power seemed to be the most important things people seek after, do we place God’s word in that list and do we value it the way we would value the other items in that list?

God’s word is more valuable than anything else we could have in this world because it is truly the words of the Almighty God. If we don’t rejoice in God’s word, why not? What would our rejoicing in God’s word look like?
