Christian Devotional – September 14, 2015

We’re going to take the next several months and go verse by verse through the book of James, instead of just taking one verse per chapter. There’s so much in this wonderful book and I want to spend some time focusing on it! I still encourage you to read the entire chapter to keep things in perspective.

Read James chapter 1

VERSE:

James 1:1–James, a servant of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.

TRUTH:

James opens up this book with a quick description of himself. He is a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we are asked to describe ourselves, what do we say? Do we recognize our total devotion and obedience to the Master of the Universe, Jesus Christ? We are nothing more, and nothing less than His child and we should always strive to see ourselves that way.

RESPONSE:

Father, Help me to see myself as You see me and to describe myself to others that way. I am Your child and I seek to serve You. I will focus on You and You alone today no matter where or to whom You send me.
