Christian Devotional – September 7, 2018

Ever say something you wish you hadn’t? If you’re like most people, the answer is “all the time!” The psalmist knew that feeling, too, which is why her wrote this is Psalm 141.

Set a guard, O Lord , over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Seriously, I could probably us a small army to help me guard my mouth and the words that come out of it. What we say is a powerful reflection of what we truly think. As we seek to follow Christ more and more every day, the words that we say should be a direct reflection of His words. Do our words build up or tear down? Do we stop ourselves when we are tempted to say things that are mean or hurtful? Do we ask God to put a guard over our mouths?
