    Christian Devotional – January 13, 2017

I like to see results. I am very driven and motivated by seeing the results of what I am doing, however, that generally means that I’m expecting something to happen very soon after whatever it is that I’ve been doing. Today we’re looking at purpose that doesn’t show immediate results. Read 2 Timothy 1:1-7. Timothy certainly was well on his way to accomplishing his purpose and Paul was writing to him to help encourage him along the way. However, Paul also mentions Timothy’s mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois, He commends them for having fulfilled their purpose by training and teaching young Timothy, so now Timothy is better equipped to…

    Christian Devotional – November 4, 2016

Read 2Timothy chapter 4 VERSE: 2 Timothy 4:7–I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. TRUTH: Many people believe that this is the last book that Paul wrote before he was executed. Here we see Paul looking back on his life and giving this evaluation. He has fought the good fight. He has finished the race. He has kept the faith. These are simple phrases with such profound meaning and impact. Paul knew that he had been running a race here on the earth. He had a fight that needed to be fought. Paul fought that fight. He kept his eyes ever…

    Christian Devotional – November 3, 2016

Read 2 Timothy chapter 3 VERSE: 2 Timothy 3:16–All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. TRUTH: Scripture is the Word of God. The Holy Bible has been breathed out by God and all the words that are in the Holy Bible are straight from the mouth of God. The scripture is great and useful for so many things in our daily life. It applies to every area and every circumstance. It’s never outdated and never “old-fashioned.” We can learn and grow and improve through the study and application of the Word of God. Will we study and apply the God-breathed Word of…

    Christian Devotional – November 2, 2016

Read 2 Timothy chapter 2 VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:23–Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. TRUTH: Are we avoiding silly arguments, or do we look for them? Some people seem to like to get into silly arguments and they go looking for opportunities to argue with people. We are not to be that type of person. We must work to glorify God and lift Him up no matter what else is going on around us and if we’re busy arguing over silly things then we won’t do that. Now, there are things that are worth standing our ground on, but we…

    Christian Devotional – November 1, 2016

Read 2 Timothy chapter 1 VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:6–For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. TRUTH: As believers in Jesus Christ, we have received the Holy Spirit. Christ has promised us that through the Spirit we have received a gift that we can use to glorify God. What we tend to forget is that the gift doesn’t automatically just bust into full bloom in us. We have to continue to fan it and grow it As we surrender more to the Lord, we allow the Spirit to move and work in our…

    Christian Devotional – May 6, 2015

Read 2 Timothy chapter 4 VERSE: 2 Timothy 4:3–For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. TRUTH: When reading this verse, the question is not, “Are we in that time?” The question we should be asking ourselves is, “Are we that person?” Do we seek after God’s truth, even when it is hard to hear, or are we only looking for what we want to hear? RESPONSE: Father, I praise You for Your truth and I desire that more…

Read 2 Timothy chapter 3 VERSE: 2 Timothy 3:12–In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. TRUTH: If we are living for Christ, what should we expect? There will be persecution and those who oppose us. If we choose to stand for Christ, we will have those who will stand against us. If no one is standing against us, we must ask ourselves if we are truly standing for Christ every day. RESPONSE: Father, keep me focused on standing for Christ, even in the midst of persecution. I will lift You up and praise You, no matter the response I get from…

Read 2 Timothy chapter 2 VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:22–Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. TRUTH: Flee and pursue. We must flee the evil desires that try to overtake us. They will not leave on their own. Also, righteousness, faith, love, and peace don’t just show up in our lives. We must go after them and seek after them. Also, we must do both at the same time. We must choose to flee evil and pursue righteousness. Will we be on who calls on God out of a pure heart. RESPONSE:…

    Christian Devotional – May 3, 2015

We’ve finished the 4th book in Psalm, so we’ll take another quick break before heading back to finish Psalm. Read 2 Timothy chapter 1 VERSE: 2 Timothy 1:5–I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. TRUTH: What is your family legacy? Paul is reminding Timothy here that his legacy was one of belief in Christ. For those of us who have been blessed to have a legacy of family who have been believers and followers in Christ, that’s a huge blessing. However, regardless of whether we experienced that blessing or…
