Read Song of Songs chapter 3

VERSE:

Song of Songs 3:3–The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. “Have you seen the one my heart loves?”

TRUTH:

She is searching for her beloved. She has single-minded focus. She looks everywhere and even asks others to help her. Do we have that level of single-minded focus regarding the one whom we love and call husband (or wife)? Are we longing to be close to that person? Do others see and know of our devotion to that person? This is not about some affair or a fling, this is her attitude and response toward the one that she has committed herself to through marriage for life. Do we view marriage as having and maintaining this level of passion and intimacy?

RESPONSE:

Father, You truly are a wonderful Father to allow us to experience this kind of deep, abiding love with another person. I pray that my heart will be focused on You first, and then on my husband next. You are the Creator of such love and I want to glorify You in my relationship with my husband so that others know and can see my commitment, love, and devotion to him.

Read Song of Songs chapter 2

VERSE:

Song of Songs 2:7–Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field, do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.

TRUTH:

We must not rush into love, especially physical expressions of love. God knows the correct timing of that love and we should not be in a hurry so that we go outside of God’s plan for the best of physical intimacy. It is better to wait on God’s perfect plan than to move forward with our own hormones or sinful lusts.

RESPONSE:

Father, I praise You for all that You have given us with physical love and I will seek to praise You with how I express physical love with my husband. You have a plan for my best and it includes how I respond to physical love.

Read Song of Song chapter 1

VERSE:

Song of Songs 1:2–Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth–for your love is more delightful than wine.

TRUTH:

The beautiful love that is discussed through these verses and the entire book of Song of Songs shows the passion and physical love that God designed to be shared between a husband and wife. This passion and love is more delightful than any other pleasure which God created, which is why Satan so loves to distort and pervert it through the rest of the world. Do we honor God’s view of physical love? Do we embrace the truth that physical love is to be fully and completely enjoyed between one man and one woman who have been joined in marriage for a lifetime? This is designed to be more delightful than any other pleasure that God has created here on earth.

RESPONSE:

Father, Your creation of passion and physical love is a wonderful gift meant to be shared in the way You created. Forgive me for believing the lies of the devil about what physical love is or how that love is shown. You are the creator of love and only through You and according to You can we fully enjoy it as You intended.
