Unity. Such a small little word with amazingly huge potential. Also, it is amazingly difficult at times. See what the psalmist says in Psalm 133. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! Psalms 133:1 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.133.1.NASB It is most certainly good and pleasant, it’s just not easy. Having unity means being intentional about actions, words, everything. Unity doesn’t just happen, it is created by the focus of all the individuals involved. Are we intentionally seeking unity in our relationships? Are we seeking unity based of the truth of Jesus Christ?

Do we get excited about praising and worshipping the Lord? We have an amazing opportunity to do so and the psalmist knew it. See what is written in Psalm 132. Let us go into His dwelling place; Let us worship at His footstool. Psalms 132:7 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.132.7.NASB There is great praise and desire to go into the presence of God. When we have that opportunity, do we get as excited about it as the psalmist did? God is the Creator of the world and we have a chance to come into his presence and worship him. Do we look forward to this opportunity?

Child-like faith is a subject that is frequently talked about in the Bible. But what does that look like? See Psalm 131. O Lord , my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me. Psalms 131:1 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.131.1.NASB The psalm goes on to talk about resting like a weaned child in its mother’s lap. When we are resting in God, we have faith that he will take care of every situation. We are content simply to be with him. In that situation, we can’t be proud or haughty. We don’t try to involve ourselves in…

I stink at waiting. I really do want what I want when I want it. The idea that I may have that wait just seems like purposeless time wasting. But then I read Psalm 130. I wait for the Lord , my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. Psalms 130:5 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.130.5.NASB The psalmist talks about waiting for the Lord. But not an inactive waiting. While waiting there is to be hope that happens. Waiting can be focused on understanding God better and recognizing how he moves better. There is hope in the waiting. If we are not willing to wait, we do not understand what…

Some days I catch myself wondering if the trials and difficulties ever end. Are there days when it’s easy? I’m sure the psalmist felt that way when he wrote Psalm 129. “Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; Yet they have not prevailed against me. Psalms 129:2 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.129.2.NASB It can feel like we are only ever under attack. It can feel that we are all alone facing these times, but we’re not. God is with us and He is the one who continues to strengthen us and help us to stand firm in the face of difficulties. Are we standing strong in Him today?

Want blessings in your life? How do we understand what God desires from us in order to receive blessing? Read Psalm 128. How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord , Who walks in His ways. Psalms 128:1 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.128.1.NASB Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord. If we are choosing to follow Him, we are already blessed. It doesn’t say what that blessing looks like, so we often miss it thinking it is going to be some “thing” that we receive. Instead, the blessing of fearing the Lord and walking in His ways is that we have the Lord. Anything else above that is just icing on the cake.

Why do we work so hard and push ourselves so hard? The reason behind that is important to understand because God is the one who is to be working hard. See Psalm 127. Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. Psalms 127:1 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.127.1.NASB Have we placed our trust in the Lord, not just for our eternal life, but for how we live our daily life? God knows and wants to impact our day by day life as well. Do we acknowledge all that he does and is doing on our behalf?…

Tough times? We’ve all had them. It’s entirely possible that you are going through them now. Psalm 126 talks about coming out of them. Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. Psalms 126:5 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.126.5.NASB We are going to have times where we sow in tears. Life is hard and difficult. At times it can be full of problems, trials, testing, frustration, and so many other things that it becomes a difficult to even figure out how to take one hour at a time let alone one day at a time.  I have sown a lot of tears throughout my life in different circumstances and situations. I…

Good equals good and bad equals bad, right? That’s what we typically assume. But we have all known Godly people who have gone through difficult and hard times. So what does the psalmist do when faced with this situation? Read Psalm chapter 125. Do good, O Lord , to those who are good And to those who are upright in their hearts. Psalms 125:4 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.125.4.NASB The psalmist prayes for it. Even though this world may not have the right responses to good people, the psalmist asks God’s help with that.  There is nothing wrong with praying and asking God to allow good things to happen to the people who…

Do we know where our help comes from? When we are going through difficulties and struggles, God is the one who brings our help. If we are following Him, He is our advocate. See Psalm 124. “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their anger was kindled against us; Psalms 124:2‭-‬3 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.124.2-3.NASB We will never be able to overcome on our own. Only because of our relationship to Jesus Christ are we able to overcome anything that comes our way. By ourselves we will always be overthrown, but with God, he…
