Christian Devotional – June 6, 2014

Read 1 John chapter 2

VERSE:

1 John 2:14–I write to you dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

TRUTH:

The believers that John were writing to knew God and because they did, they were strong and the Word of God lived in them. Because the Word of God lived in them, they were able to overcome the evil one. How do we overcome the evil one? We overcome through the Word of God. His Word is the way that we see success. It is the recipe for being able to make it through anything that Satan throws in our way. God’s Word is eternal and has been since the beginning. Through God’s Word we know God and we become strong. As we share God’s Word with each other and allow it to live in and through us, we are able to defeat the evil one.

RESPONSE:

Father, You are the One and Only. You were from the beginning and Your Word was from the beginning. I will hold to Your Word and I will allow it to live in and through me in everything that I do. I know that through Your Word in me I will be able to overcome evil because You overcome evil. Live in and through me today.
