Read 2 Samuel chapter 1

VERSE:

2 Samuel 1:17–David took up this lament concerning Saul and his son Jonathan.

TRUTH:

Saul had been king, but Saul had also hunted David and tried to have him killed on numerous occasions. Even so, David didn’t rejoice when Saul was killed, but instead he was saddened and mourned the loss of the king that had once been anointed by God. David understood that Saul had made a choice not to follow God and those choices led Saul to do some evil things. Which will we choose. Will we make today a day that we follow God and hold to Him or will we reject God and His desires?

RESPONSE:

Father, Saul made his choices, but David still continued to pray for him and hope that he would be reconciled to you. We each have to make our own individual choices, but help me to be sensitive and mindful of You and how You are working in another person’s life. I desire to be focused on You and Your glory today.
