Christian Devotional – September 4, 2015

Read Zechariah chapter 5

VERSE:

Zechariah 5:3–And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other side, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.”

TRUTH:

As God reviews and evaluates the land, He sees all that we have done. God will not tolerate sin and He has a curse prepared for those who have sinned and not repented. Interestingly, a lot of people might be surprised at the types of sins mentioned here, thinking that those may be some of the “lesser” sins. Yet, God is a holy God and all sin against Him is deserving of death. The people at this time had become so immune to these sins that they didn’t even hardly think they were wrong. Do we recognize the sin in our life? Do we repent to a Holy God for our sins, all of them, recognizing that Christ paid the penalty for all of them?

RESPONSE:

Father, I will praise You and lift You up. I know that You are a Holy God and that You must punish sin. Help me to see the sin in my life the way that You see it, so that I may confess and repent to You.
