Christian Devotional – December 9, 2010

VERSE:
Genesis 14:23–that I will not take a thread or a sandal that is yours, for fear you would say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’

TRUTH:
Abram had just won a battle and saved the king of Sodom and his nephew Lot. Now the king wanted to reward Abram. However, Abram refused to accept any rewards. He wanted to be sure that there was never any doubt about why he did what he did. Abram was following God and he didn’t want people to think that he was in the employ of someone else. Do we guard our motivations? Do people know and recognize that the only motivation for us to do anything is Christ?

RESPONSE:
Lord, You are my only motivation. Help me to ensure that there is never any confusion about my motivations or the reasons that I do anything. You are everything.
