Through Suffering, Day 24
Do we stumble? Read 2 Peter 1:5-11.
Recently, I stumbled and fell. I have been running more lately but I am still not accustomed to it and I lost my footing and fell. I scraped my knee pretty good and have been living with the consequences of my fall for the past week.
In these verses today, we see Peter give a long list of all of the attributes that we as Christians are to be demonstrating and living out in our lives. Then he makes this statement, if we do these things we won’t stumble.
As we look back on our lives, we stumble sometimes. Maybe we stumble literally, like I did,. But often we stumble in other ways, either emotionally or spiritually because we are unaccustomed to doing the things that are listed in these verses on a regular basis. If we are making a habit of following Christ and obedience in all these areas pursuing faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, godliness, and the rest then we will stumble less and less and be able to run faster down the path God has for us.
Have we stumbled? Are we living with the consequences of our stumbling? God stands ready to forgive us and to help us to move down the path of his obedience today.
