The Vision, Day 9
The mark. Read Ezekiel chapter 9.
As we go through Ezekiel, I’m also reading through Revelation right now, and it is amazing to me how many similarities there are between the book of Ezekiel and the book of Revelation. Here we see one that most people think of when they think of Revelation. Revelation discusses the mark of the beast that people will have on their foreheads. Here we see God ordering a mark of repentance on the people of Israel.
God is about to execute judgment on all of the people, and he goes through and has the hearts of each person tested. If those people are repentant and sorry for the actions of themselves and their country, then they are given a mark on their forehead and the executioner skips them. It’s an amazing testimony of God’s grace and mercy. If their attitude towards sin mirrored God’s attitude towards sin, for this situation, he was willing to hold back judgment.
What is our attitude towards sin? Do we look at our nation and all of the things going on and are we deeply repentant for the state of the world that we live in? This was just about the country of Israel, but when we look at our countries now, how many of them have forsaken God in every way possible? Do we repent? Are we lamenting the situation we find our country in? This is an opportunity for us to be able to intercede on their behalf so that we can experience God’s mercy.
