Understanding Purpose, Day 1

I believe we all struggle at times to understand our purpose. Why did God create us? Why are we still here? What are we supposed to be doing? My focus word for the year of 2025 is “purpose” and I wanted to start by going through what God has to say about my purpose. The next several days will be that journey.

To start, Ephesians 2:10 gives us 3 truths about our purpose. Our purpose was Planned by God, our purpose is Good, and our purpose was Assigned to each of us.

In this verse, we can clearly see that God planned our purpose. He created us specifically to accomplish his purpose for our lives. We may not always agree in the moment, but we must accept that God gas plans for us. We were not an accident.

God is good, and God’s purpose for us is good. We don’t have to wonder about what we are intended for. We see quite plainly that we were created for doing good.

Finally, our purpose was assigned to us. No one else is going to be able to fulfill our God-planned purpose like we will. God created us, has plans for us, and assigned us a purpose to fulfill His will for His glory.

Today, thank God for his amazing plan for our lives. Even when we don’t understand the plan, we can trust that it is good and that we play an integral role in the plan that he has specifically assigned to us.
