Understanding Purpose, Day 13
Strength and decisiveness. Read Job 36:5.
We continue in Job, but today’s verse is a few chapters before the verse from yesterday. Here we see one of Job’s friends speaking and trying to explain to Job everything that has happened. He makes two critical points about the nature and character of God. God is mighty and God is decisive. God has strength and power in everything that he does. And God is firm in his decision-making and ability to know what he plans to do.
When we think about the purpose of God, we saw yesterday that God will accomplish his purpose. And today, we understand how he does that. God has the strength to see accomplished anything that he wants to see accomplished. He also knows exactly what he wants to have accomplished. He is strong and he is decisive.
This is such a comfort to us who vary back-and-forth in what our goals should be. We struggle with purpose and we struggle with what we should be doing. God knows exactly what we should be doing. We can trust in him to give us our purpose because he is capable of carrying it out through us and he knows what we should be. Do we trust him and his purpose enough to allow him to make those decisions in our life?
