Ruth’s Example, Day 3

Be worthy of notice. Read Ruth 2:1-7.

Ruth went to work. She recognized that there were needs that they had, and she had the capacity to go out and at least do some small things to meet those needs. She went out and went to work. She found a field in which she was allowed to come behind the harvesters and pick up stray grain. This was long, tedious, arduous work. But when the master of the field arrived, he noticed her.

She wouldn’t have been the only one out working. She wouldn’t have been the only one out picking up leftover grain. But her deeds and the way in which she conducted herself made her worthy of notice.

When we are doing the things that we we do throughout the day, do we do them in a manner that is worthy of notice? Ruth would never have dreamed someone would have been watching her glean grain. That was not a job that was prestigious or important. And yet, she still did it in a way that was full of integrity. When we do our work, do we do so in a way that is worthy of the notice of others? No matter what we do, we must conduct ourselves each day in a way that honors the Lord and brings glory to him. Even in the most mundane and ordinary tasks, let’s follow Ruth’s example today.
