Christian Devotional – January 20, 2013

VERSE:
John 10:18–No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.

TRUTH:
Jesus was given authority over His own life by the Father. The people did not take it away from Him and He chose the exact moment and place where He laid it down. The people here were so angry that they wanted to kill Jesus, but He knew it wasn’t the right time so He didn’t lay it down. Do we respect His authority and position that God has given to Jesus?

RESPONSE:
Father, You have given Jesus the authority over His life. Because of that Jesus chose the exact moment to lay down His life and the precise moment to pick His life back up again. Because of Jesus in me, His authority over me is final and absolute, given by God. All authority belongs to God and I will obey Him.
