VERSE:

Jeremiah 9:23-24–This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

TRUTH:

We can get so proud of so many things. Sometimes we can get boastful. I find it interesting that God does not indicate that boast is wrong. Instead, He tells us that what matters is what we boast about. If we are boasting in our own abilities and possessions, then we are denying the Creator of our abilities and the Giver of our possessions. Anything that we can possibly boast about is from God and He has allowed us to partake of it because of His kindness, justice, and righteousness. Do we boast only in the greatness of God who gave us everything?

RESPONSE:

Father, I thank You for all that You have done for me and provided for me. I confess that I sometimes take credit for what You have done. I repent and I will seek to give You the praise and honor You are due. I love You and boast in the wonderful works that You have done!
