Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 35

What is your reputation? Read Daniel 5:10-12.
I’ve heard it said that you don’t get to create your reputation, you simply influence it. Reputation is what other people think about you. When your name comes up in conversations, what’s the impression of the people who hear it? What have they heard about you? What have they experienced regarding you? All of these factors come together to build your reputation.
Even though this new King didn’t seem to know much of what his father had gone through or experienced, the Queen did. The Queen knew Daniel by reputation. She understood what he had been able to accomplish and do. She recognized that he was a follower of the holy God. She was able to come in and articulate Daniel’s reputation to the king. This reputation is almost word-for-word what the previous king had said about Daniel.
There was consistency in Daniel’s reputation. When we think about ourselves, what is our reputation? What do other people say about us? When we’re not around, are we recognized as a follower of Christ? Are we consistently spoken of in the same way because we consistently handle situations in the same way.
If we’re going to lead through challenging circumstances, we have to be steadfast and consistent in our walk with Christ. That is the only way to build that relationship and reputation so that others see it in our lives and then share it.
