Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 36

Résumé filler. Read Daniel 5:13-16.
I work with several high school-age students in a number of different areas. In a conversation I was having with one of them recently, the topic of resume fillers came up. This young person was discussing how so many of his peers join or are part of organizations solely so they can put them on their resume to make them more desirable for scholarships or college applications. These people don’t really do anything with the organization or make a difference, they just want to be able to say they were part of it.
This got me thinking about what kinds of things we do to expand our “Christian resume?” If we were trying to explain our Christian experience to others, what would we have listed? Daniel has an impressive resume list that the king indicates. Daniel has the spirit of God in him. He has insight, intelligence, and outstanding wisdom. Now that might not be specific words that we would put on a resume for any just any job, but we can know that these are just the kinds of things that leaders absolutely need to have in order to effectively lead.
Are you aiming to fill your spiritual resume with the things that truly matter and that truly make a difference. Or are you simply going to the motions just so you can tell people at church that you’ve been involved in such-and-such an event. Are you like the high school student who’s just simply going through the motions as a way to make yourself look better to others around you, or are you dedicated and committed to Christ so that it shows to those around you?
