Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 57

The unexpected visitor. Read Daniel 10:1-6.

It’s amazing how we can get accustomed to the routine. We find comfort in the expected. As leaders, that’s no different. We like being able to find comfort in doing the same thing over and over and over again. Daniel had heard and received visions from God in the past. However, that had always been at night, while he was sleeping. This time, he is fully awake and standing outside by the river. All of a sudden, he sees a vision. The people he is with don’t see the actual vision themselves, but they understand something is going on that is different, and they are afraid.

Daniel receives a message from the Lord through a heavenly Messenger that has been sent to him to convey this message. As leaders, we have to be prepared to experience the unexpected. We can recognize that our leadership is going to be tested based on how we handle the things we aren’t expecting, not just based on us managing the plan that we have.

Are we adaptable? Are we flexible? Do we pivot? As leaders we are going to be in situations where we have to make changes. Daniel experienced that very situation when he was confronted by this man in the middle of the day at a river.
