ADHD Gospel, Day 34

They can’t. Read Mark 9:14-18.

Have you ever been told that you can’t do something? For me, that was always something of a challenge. I wanted to be able to prove that person wrong. I wanted to try harder, work more, achieve even more. That became a driving force for me to push myself to excel.

However, for the disciples, they had been told they couldn’t do something because they couldn’t do it. And, what they were trying to do, they were never going to be able to work harder and push more to be able to achieve it. What they were trying to do, only God could do. In order to achieve it, they had to submit to God and allow His Spirit to work in them. The people speaking were absolutely right in that they couldn’t do it. Only God could.

Jesus had given them His power, but the disciples hadn’t learned that the needed to be able to allow God to work through them. Do we do the same. We can be trying to do amazing things for God, but find ourselves tired, worn out and frustrated. We need to be doing the work by allowing God to do the work through us. Are we remaining focused on the work that God is doing in and through us? He is the one with the power and authority and we are to rest in Him today.
