Christian Devotional – September 30, 2026

ADHD Gospel, Day 37

We need God. Read Mark 9:25-29.

We are a very independent culture, and we like to do things ourselves. It can be really difficult for us to lean on others for support. And yet, that is exactly what Jesus is reminding us in today’s verses.

Jesus heals the boy. He casts out the demon and it leaves and the boy is recovering. Later the disciples come to Jesus and ask him why they couldn’t do what Jesus did. As we saw earlier, Jesus is the one with the authority and the disciples were using Jesus’ authority to do the great work in the first place.

However, the reason they couldn’t do this is because they were no longer relying on Jesus. They were relying on themselves. Jesus reminds them these can only come out through prayer. It’s all about prayer. Prayer demonstrates our dependence on God. We recognize that we can’t possibly do anything without him. It is only through prayer that we are able to tap in to the incredible authority and power of Jesus Christ.

Do we recognize our dependence on God? And are we actively seeking him in every area of our life today?
