ADHD Gospel, Day 40

Seeking last. Read Mark 9:30-39.
I am a competitive person who has enjoyed playing sports and other activities all my life. While many rules are very different from one sport to another, one principle is typically universal. The goal is to be the best. Everyone wants to be the top, the best, the greatest. We are all seeking that and working toward that. Our practices are built around that goal. We coach and play toward that goal. Jesus’s disciples were doing to same thing, thinking about who was going to be the best. Jesus had a different rule for them.
Jesus introduced this idea that the very best was the people were were last. Not the ones who were last because they were trying and failed, but those who were actively seeking a way to be the lowest. They wanted to serve others. They didn’t seek the glory or the power for themselves. This is counterintuitive to everything that we learned and all the cultural implications we experience.
God is seeking those who are seeking to serve. He wants to see people who are looking forward to all that God is doing and they want to exalt God in everything about him. Is that how we are living our lives? In what way can we serve more in our lives today?
