Christian Devotional – January 1, 2013

VERSE:
Leviticus 18:4–You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am the Lord your God.

TRUTH:
We are given rules that God wants us to obey. He has standards and expectations that a person who follows Him is to meet. Why should we follow God’s rules? God gives several reasons throughout scripture, but the one listed here is simply because He is God. The Lord is over all things and He is God. Do we respect and reverence God so much that we follow His commands simply because of who He is?

RESPONSE:
Father, as we start a new year, I will choose to follow and obey Your commands, even when things don’t make sense to me. You are God and You are over all, including me.
