Christian Devotional – December 31, 2012

VERSE:
Leviticus 17:14-For as for the life of all flesh, it’s blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, “You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.”

TRUTH:
I once had a person tell me that she didn’t like Christianity because it was too much about blood. God explains Himself here. The blood represents the life of each person and animal. God wants us to understand that it is not just about blood, but life. We must have respect for life of all kinds, even the life of animals. That is why God gives specific instructions on how to kill animals for food, so that we are still being respectful. All life is worthy of respect.

RESPONSE:
Father, You want us to know and remember the respect of life that You have. I will not take Your gift of life for granted. You love and honor life and desire that we do the same.
