Christian Devotional – June 16, 2014

Read 1 John chapter 2

VERSE:

1 John 2:27–As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit–just as it has taught you, remain in him.

TRUTH:

John has already mentioned in previous verses that they had received the anointing from the Holy One who is truth. In that day, others were coming to the Christians claiming to have “additional” truth and wanting to teach them. John wants us to know that when we have the Truth, Jesus Christ, we don’t need anything else to add to it. Receiving teaching about Jesus and following up on the things of Jesus is to be our truth. We should not seek to add anything else to the message of Jesus.

RESPONSE:

Father, I love You and desire to be with You and seek You and You only. You are the Truth and I don’t need anything else except You. Help me guard against relying on anything else except You.
