Christian Devotional – September 26, 2014

Read 2 Samuel chapter 3

VERSE:

2 Samuel 3:1–The war lasted between the house of Saul and the house of David lasted a long time. David grew stronger and stronger while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.

TRUTH:

Even though Saul had died, David was not immediately placed as king. God had promised David that he would be king, but there was a lot of time and a lot of work between that promise and the fulfillment. Do we wait on God? When His promise to us that He will be with us and guide us, or any other promise for that matter, takes a while, do we continue to trust that He will bring it about? The Lord will work out His promises but it will be on His own time-table, not ours.

RESPONSE:

Father, You keep Your promises. Your timing may not make sense to us, but I will trust You in all things. I will hold to Your promises no matter how long they take to come about.
