VERSE:
Psalm 42:5–Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
TRUTH:
This verse is so important, it’s repeated again in verse 11. We must recognize when our soul is downcast, depressed, disillusioned or any other negative feeling. Then we must direct our soul to put hope in God. We won’t feel like it. We won’t see it anywhere around us. We won’t have a reason to do so, other than the fact that I trust in who God says He is. Are we willing to tell our feelings that they’re wrong? We have to makeĀ a conscious decision to hope in the Lord, even when that’s not how we feel.
RESPONSE:
Father, my soul is downcast, but I will tell it to put hope in You. You are my maker and You know me better than anyone else. I will hope in You and praise You, even during the down times for I know the truth of who You are and I praise You for that.
