VERSE:
Isaiah 47:10–“You felt secure in your wickedness and said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you; for you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one besides me.'”
TRUTH:
Isaiah is explaining judgment that is coming for Babylon, yet the attitudes and the arrogance that accompanies their sin sounds very familiar. They thought their sin was done in secret. They had deluded themselves into thinking that they were the most important person, instead of God. Do these statements describe us? Do we think we are alone when we sin? God sees everything we do and He is the One who is over all, not us. Any attitude that we have that is different than this is wrong and will lead us into more sin. We must confess it to God and allow Him to change our focus.
RESPONSE:
Father, help me to own up to my wrong doings and confess them to You, not hide them and try to “get away with” them. You are the One who is over everything, not me. Help me to focus on Your wisdom and knowledge and not rely on my own because my own wisdom will deceive me.
