Christian Devotional – June 27, 2015

Read Mark chapter 7

VERSE:

Mark 7:15–Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.

TRUTH:

When we say things or do things, they are a reflection of what is in our heart and mind. These are the actions and the attitudes that are a direct correlation to what is going on inside us. Now with that being said, we must still be careful what we are around and what we expose ourselves to on the outside because those things have a tendency to make their way inside our mind and Satan uses them to make us think about things we should, which results in our doing and saying things that we shouldn’t. The things outside us may not defile us, but they certainly can be used as temptation and we must be on guard against that, too.

RESPONSE:

Father, I pray that You will help me to honor You with all that is in me so that my thoughts and actions are pleasing to You. Also, keep me from being tempted by the things that are around me and outside of me. I pray that You will be glorified in everything that I do and say, which starts with everything that I think.
